McDonald's Going Green
1st Green Restaurant
In the year of 2008, McDonald's opened its first "Green" restaurant in Chicago, Illinois. The green restaurant included many feautures that included Solatube skylights, recycled wrapping materials, recycling areas for the customers, and a vegetated "Green" roof.
No Straws!
McDonald's introduced
"No Straw Day" on every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month spreading awareness that straws kill and endanger wildlife.
Reduce, Reuse, McDonald's!
In the year of 1990, McDonald's introduced "McRecycle USA" which was an environment program that had set a goal to purchase over $100 million in recycled materials. In the same year, McDonald's teamed up with the Environmental Defense Fund to find ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle solid wastes.
